Marco approached us to provide an e-commerce website design for his Viking Trading business in Carlisle, to sell a wide range of army and outdoor products.
Marco had unfortunately had some bad experiences with another local web design company who had left him with a half finished website after they ceased trading. Marco required a large number of categories and sub-categories and wanted something professional and unique, and easy to manage for himself for stock and order management.
We offered options for our standard and advanced e-commerce solutions and after lengthy discussion with Marco agreed that the standard option was the best fit for his needs and budget. This solution includes PayPal and Stripe payment options and a single-page checkout process for customers, to make things nice and easy for everyone concerned. Stripe is a PCI Level 1 compliant card payment route and has no monthly fee for usage, instead a system similar to PayPal which takes a fixed amount per transaction and a small percentage of each sale - it is actually cheaper than PayPal's fees as well!
This e-commerce platform supports multiple product variations to cater for e.g. size and colour options, as well as allowing for full stock control on variations so each combination has its own stock count which is automatically deducted after a completed sale. You can also run the store with no stock levels added if you have quick access to new stock from your suppliers.
The responsive nature of this platform works really well, allowing mobile and tablet shoppers a touch-friendly interface to make their purchases easy and enjoyable.
We have provided initial training and documentation to Marco on using the e-commerce website and offer continued support on this throughout the year to ensure Marco is confident in using the system - we created a small number of initial products and Marco will gradually be adding more himself over coming months.
We really like this solution, it is very straight forward for our clients to manage, so we hope you enjoy the completed website, and please get in touch if we can help you out with any of your own website design needs across Carlisle, Cumbria or anywhere else in the UK!
We undertook a full re-design of the website in February 2015 in order to strengthen the brand identity and purpose of the website - we improved the product category structure and also the main menu structure.
A further re-design of the website was made in 2018, when Marco's suppliers moved to providing CSV files and image banks of product data, so after a reasonable amount of editing work, we were able to quickly import the full product range into a fully featured solution with a range of customer-focused features.
