Woolfest have been with us for almost 3 years now. With the need for a pretty tight turnaround, and the ability for the Woolfest team to quickly and easily update their own website, our solution used our CMS of choice, Joomla.

**Introduce your business in no more than 2 sentences:**

Woolfest is an annual celebration of natural fibres, especially wool. It is organised by members of The Wool Clip cooperative and takes place at Cockermouth in Cumbria in late June each year. Woolfest 2020 was online in response to COVID restrictions.
**How long have you been in business for?**

Woolfest began in 2005, inspired by the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival in the USA. It has grown and developed over the years but has kept a strong reputation for quality of work, connections with sheep farmers and rare breed organisations and, above all, friendliness. The event is now on to its third website but the first one with Light Bulb Web Design.

**What do you enjoy most about what you do?**

Bringing together nearly 5000 wool enthusiasts each year is exhausting but also a great buzz. We've seen other wool and yarn festivals start up across the UK since we began and each one has a slightly different emphasis and feel. We're very proud to have started that trend and thrilled still to be attracting stallholders and visitors from across the UK and beyond.

**Who or what inspires you?**

Everything about natural fibres, especially wool, inspires us. It is such a sustainable and versatile material and it is absolutely crazy that British fleece is so often undervalued, even to the extent of being treated as a waste material. The Wool Clip and Woolfest are all about celebrating the best of what can be achieved with wool.

**Tell us something about you that is not related to your business:**

As well as organising Woolfest, members of The Wool Clip also have a shop in Caldbeck in the northern fells of Cumbria. In the shop, customers can buy yarn and other materials for their own wool crafts as well as clothing, accessories, homewares and gifts, all in wool and all designed and made by members of the co-operative.

**In no more than three sentences, let us know why you chose to work with Light Bulb Web Design and what this has meant for your business:**

We were looking for a new web designer who'd listen to what we needed, come up with solutions that were fit for purpose and give us a website that was easy to maintain. We didn't have a huge budget and we knew that we needed to complete the revisions and launch the new website within a fairly tight time period as the process to start planning the next Woolfest begins very soon after one being finished. Chris at Light Bulb Web Design is local to us in Cumbria and was highly recommended by one of our members, Jan Beadle. The new website went live in time for Woolfest 2019 and it proved an invaluable investment when we needed the flexibility and clarity to be able to take Woolfest online because of COVID-19 in 2020. (Someone had a lot to say, as this is 5 sentences!)

Chris is the founder and lead strategist at Light Bulb Web Design, a UK‑based creative agency specialising in psychology‑driven, AI‑ready websites for professional service businesses. From law firms and financial practices to property and consultancy brands, he helps organisations turn underperforming websites into high‑trust, high‑converting digital assets.

With a background rooted in web design, technology, and human‑centred strategy, Chris writes about the real issues holding most websites back; unclear messaging, bloated builds, weak trust signals, and structures that search engines and AI simply can’t interpret. His work blends behavioural insight, technical precision, and a deep understanding of how people make decisions online.

Chris speaks at industry events, sharing practical, no‑nonsense guidance on AI‑aware optimisation, digital trust, and the future of web strategy. When he’s not building or refining websites, he’s exploring the intersection of technology, psychology, and business growth - and helping service‑based brands show up online with clarity, confidence, and credibility.
